Vincennes
In adition to all the other battles Vincennes was important as well. In early 1779, the Americans made a mid-winter attack on the British. The British were caught by surprise and they and their Native American allies surrendered. This American victory allowed settlers to remain on the frontier. It also strengthened the American claim on the Ohio River Valley. I think this was the forth most significant encounter for the Revolution because it showed that the Americans were willing to do whatever it took to become a free country, but i don't think that is as important as some other battles.
